OBITUARY - MR QUINTIN ISRAEL
The
Members of the Old Thomians Rugby Football Union announce with
profound sorrow the demise of Mr Quintin Israel renowned rugby
coach at S. Thomas' College, Club and National Level, and former
dedicated teacher and Senior Head Master of S.Thomas' College,
Mount Lavinia.
His valuable services to S .Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia will
be gratefully remembered. We convey our deepest sympathies to
the members of his family.
His mortal remains will lie at A. F. Raymonds on Friday the 09th
November 2007 till 9.00pm and thereafter at the College Chapel
from 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon on Saturday 10th November 2007. A
service will be held at 11.15 a.m. Thereafter, the remains will
lie at the A F Raymonds Funeral Parlour until 4.00 p.m.
All Old Thomians and OTRFU members are requested to meet at the
College Chapel at 10.00 a.m. and 4.15 p.m. at the Roman Catholic
entrance to the Kanatte Borella. The Cortège will be carried
from the said entrance by the Old Boys & OTRFU Members and
Trinity College up to the Crematorium.

THE JUNIOR RUGBY CARNIVAL - 2007
04TH MARCH 2007 - BIG CLUB GROUNDS, MOUNT LAVINIA
The 10th Junior Rugby Carnival organized by the OTRFU will be held between 8.00 a.m. and
6.00 p.m. on Sunday, 04th March 2007 at the College Grounds. All old boys are invited to attend this event.
Any old boy or parent who wishes to help in organizing this event
or in making a contribution towards this event by giving a
donation or a banner or advertisement should immediately call Mr

THOMIANS RUGBY GET-TOGETHER AND DINNER-2006
The annual OTRFU Get-together and
Dinner has now become an event that is much looked forward to by
the Thomian fraternity. This year’s event will be held at the
Galle Face Hotel on
Saturday 09th September 2006, commencing
8.00PM.
It would be,
as usual, a grand event at which a Five-Star Dinner inclusive of a
Bar-B-Q will be on offer. A limited quantity of free liquor and
Draught Beer will also be available to the participants. If you
wish to bring your “own stuff” there is no Corkage.
Music for
dancing and singing along will be provided by a well known musical
aggregation with a “Thomian Touch”. Several draws offering
attractive prizes and surprises will add variety to the evening’s
entertainment.

on his Gym Membership to persons applying through the OTRFU. This
offer is not limited to any particular group but open to anyone
interested in exercising.
The full annual membership
worth over Rs 15,000/= will be sold through OTRFU at only Rs 3,000/=
per annum.The membership can be utilised in any of the 3 Gyms
in Colombo.
Only a limited number of memberships
will be available to Old Thomians and persons recommended in writing
by Old Thomians to the OTRFU. Old Thomians will have to take full
responsibility on account of members so recommended to the OTRFU.

Dinner
on the Ocassion of the 51st Thomian - Trinity Rugby Encounter
The 51st Thomian-Trinity Rugby Encounter is
scheduled to be played on Friday, 15th July 2006 at the Bogambara
Stadium, Kandy. The match will be played by under-17, under-14,
under-16 and under-18 commencing 2.30 p.m.
Tickets will be available for sale at the grounds.
The Dinner has been organized by the OTSC on
the 15th July 2006 at 8.30 p.m. The 1st XV Teams, the Officials
and the Head of both the schools have been invited. All old boys,
parents of rugby players and their families can attend this function
by purchasing tickets.
The venue will be notified soon.There will
be a limited number of tickets for sale.Please contact the following

Appointed Secretary OTRFU
We are happy to announce that
Mr Y S de Zoysa has been appointed Secretary of the OTRFU at the
last AGM. Mr Y S de Zoysa, who represented the College 1st XV
in 1968 to 1970 is well known in the Thomian fraternity, and has
served as the Secretary, OBA in the years 2000/2001 and was the
Chairman of the Royal-Thomian Match Committee in 2004 after having
served as Secretary for three years. Mr de Zoysa is expected to
swing into action and his first mandate has been to organize and
update the members list and to find all the lost sheep spread
far and wide around the world and in Sri Lanka. Branch organizations
of the OBA can expect a salvo from Mr De Zoysa in the future.
We look forward to an
action-packed year with Mr Y S de Zoysa as Secretary, OTRFU.
1978
CAPTAIN SHANE PINDER’S VISIT TO SRI LANKA
Mr Shane Pinder, the
Captain of the team that won the Centenary Knockout Trophy in
1978 will be in Sri Lanka for a short visit with his family between
23rd July for two weeks. There will be a Dinner for the 1978 Rugby
Team and wives at No. 39/6 Shrubbery Gardens, (Off Marine Drive),
Colombo 4, the residence of Mr Shanaka de Livera. All players
should try and attend this function as Shane has expressed a wish
to meet up with his team mates.
